Jenn, I feel the same way about my own sagging face-specifically my neck- and appreciate you doing the hard work for the rest of us. I don't know about anyone else, but I did full face and neck Ultherapy twice and I feel like I wasted big money. Or, maybe my skin is better than it would have been had I not spent thousands of dollars??? I have no clue. I do know that my jawline is still not there because the skin on my neck has drifted forward and down. When I look down I have the dewlap of a Flemish Giant rabbit. Who needs a neck pillow on the plane? Not I! I'm fine with the rest of my face (for now) and use all the serums, moisturizers, creams, and sunscreens, but have given up on the "minimal, temporary 'work'".
I work on a college campus and today is the first nice weather day here in the PNW. I saw a couple of young women lying out on the grass tanning and I was ENVIOUS. Like, who doesn't love the feeling of sun on your skin? At 52 (with melasma) that really isn't an option for me anymore, but I kinda miss it. PS. Jenn, Good Genes is exfoliator magic.
Great information. Ordered the Timeless product due to grumpy, sensitive skin. Btw, the Timeless site has more of a selection of product sizes at current discount than Amazon. Also, second your rec for Supergoop Play sunscreen. SPF of 50, goes on like a moisturizer lotion, I never go out in the summer without it.
I use a fair amount of face products and love a good post on new products to try . I have a regular routine with Trent, vitamin C serum, the acids - basically all the things , including sunscreen. But my dirty little secret is that I still love a tan. I can’t help myself - maybe it’s the genX’r in me but I think I look so much better with sun kissed skin. I know it’s bad for you and I do use sunscreen outdoors and lotion up liberally afterwards but I feel like it’s such a hard habit to break.
I laughed so hard when I saw the Magda pic. Perfect choice for a skincare article.

here's the thing— there *are* new non surgical things that help with jowls, particularly biostimulators like Radiesse or Sculptra.
Thanks! I’ll look them up. However, I wonder if my neck is too far gone to go that route.

Congratulations on your book--no small feat! And thanks for writing about this other "ism".
Yay! Love you new Substack Jenn!! Listen to your podcast with Kim religiously💕
Aahhh thank you!
Me, too! Along with my cups of coffee it’s the highlight of my Monday mornings.
❤️❤️
